Does WAP still sell copies of the /// Service Manual? If not, is it
available on the DVD? I can't find a reference to it on wap.org...

Mike,

The /// Service Manual is available on the internet in PDF file format at:

	ftp.apple.asimov.net / pub / apple_II / documentation / apple3 / service_reference_manual

This site contains the manual as either a single PDF (Apple III Service Reference Manual-1982.pdf) or seperate chapters (Apple3ServiceRefMan1982-cc.pdf).

I scanned this in 2006 from an original copy of this manual. I also added a few extra items to it to make this more complete (e.g. extra schematics in chapter 11 from Apple patents and an internal Apple schematic binder, and several extra chapters -- 18-28). Chapter 26 contains a ROM listing from Apple's original sources.

Also check out directory DTCA3DOC which contains several other repair manuals, e.g. DTCA3DOC-227 REPAIR APPLE 3 1988.pdf.

Folks.. just wanted you to know that I have donated my entire collection of Apple /// hardware and software (and it was a large collection!) to the University of Delaware - which maintains collections of a wide range of computers. It was time. I have many things still in digital form, of course and Washington Apple Pi still has the A3 DVD and the A3 in 10 EZ Lessons DVDs - but I will not be able to make or provide copies of our PD library any more. I'll continue to lurk and contribute as I can - it's fun to see folks continue to learn and work on projects for the /// - "The Machine That Would Not Die" as we used to say... I think it is still true!

Subject: [Apple3-L] Need help diagnosing a 5V ///
Message-ID: <4C65E3E1.6020809@gmail.com>

I'm trying to get a 5V /// up and running and I could use a little help
diagnosing it. Basically, when I turn it on, I get the power lights
(the one on the motherboard and the keyboard light), a very brief
flicker of light on the internal drive and nothing else. I've swapped
out the drive with a known good one, with the same results.

Anyone have any tips?

Thanks!

- Mike

Does anything at all show up on the screen?

I'd go through and make sure all the chips are reseated but sounds like a bad power supply even tho the lights came on.

I have since gotten rid of most of the hardware but still have some manuals and a few other things. I?ll include a list and if you know of anyone that is interested let me know. I want to sell all of this as a group. I like to get $100 out of all the pieces and that price would included, the shipping. All of the items weight about 35lbs., and would cost about $45 to ship to you. I would be happy to e-mail to pictures of any of the items if some one want to check them out. All of these items seem to be in good shape.

To the Apple /// list:

There was a game that I played obsessively on my Apple 3 that was kind of
like PacMan in as much as it had a maze and an object that ran around it and
it would speed up as you reached new levels. I don't remember if it ran in
Apple 2 emulation. Does anybody remember the name of that game?

Thanks,
Charlie Cowles
